Harataunga Marae

Harataunga (Kennedy Bay) is a remote coastal community in the Coromandel with deep whakapapa ties to Ngāti Porou through tuku whenua (gifting of land).

A community wānanga was held at Harataunga Marae to begin shaping a 100-year strategy for Harataunga – a long-term vision grounded in whakapapa, whenua, and the aspirations of whānau across generations. The process brought together the descendants and the community to reflect on their past, dream for their mokopuna, and identify Pou to guide the collective journey ahead. Once the strategy was designed, we met again to form the 12 month action plan in time for the AGM.
