Whāngārā Farms is a large Māori-owned farm on the East Coast, made up of Whāngārā B5, Pakarae A, and Tapuwae Whitiwhiti Incorporations. A community consultation was held at Whāngārā Marae to co-design a 100-year environmental strategy grounded in whakapapa, whenua, and intergenerational aspiration. Over 60 people attended, including kaumātua, local community, hapū, farmers, shareholders, board members, and financial partners, to visualise the long-term future of the farms through the narrative of Paikea and the whale. The process surfaced shared values, strategic pou, and a unified vision to guide future decisions.
The group selected our Hina te Pō Strategy Service, designed for kaupapa-led collectives seeking clarity, unity, and a long-term roadmap for impact. Since the wānanga, the strategy has continued to grow from strength to strength. Check out the Gisborne Herald article here.
